NBS Animal Rescue
About the Animal Shelter
N.B.S. Animal Rescue was founded on October 12, 2011 by Aaron Fortin, Rebecca Akins, and Jaime Wolfe. N.B.S. Animal Rescue is a 100% foster based canine rescue that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and adoption of healthy, well-balanced, dogs and puppies into loving families. Our primary goals include the rescue and rehabilitation of homeless animals in need, educating our community regarding proper pet care, and to participate in community youth outreach programs. Our focus is on solving Michigan's homeless dog problem. By working together, fostering strong relationships with other rescues, and working internally with the city and county shelters in Michigan; we hope to begin solving Michigan's euthanasia problem. We do what we do because we are passionate individuals who thrive on knowing that the only voice an animal has at times is the one that a human is willing to give it. We want to be displaced animals voice to help them live and thrive.

HereÂs what our adoption process consists of: 1.) We ask that you fill out an online adoption application. In the application we will ask that you tell us a little bit about yourself, your home, your current and past pets, how you will help your new pet become comfortable in their new home, and we will ask for a veterinarians contact name and number as well as three personal references that we can speak to. 2.) Once we receive your application one of our dedicated adoption specialists will review your application carefully, contact your veterinarian and all three personal references and speak to you on the phone to clear up any questions that may arise during the process. 3.) Once your application has been approved, our adoption coordinator will contact you with the good news! At this time we will set up a meet and greet for your family and the dog you would like to adopt. 4.) If at the meet and greet your entire family loves the dog, feels like they are a good match for your family and our adoption coordinator feels as though your home will provide the dog with the best possible care, an Adoption Agreement is signed, an adoption fee paid, and information about the dogÂs past veterinary care, feeding schedule, etc is shared. 5.) Our adoption fee is $250.00 for all dogs and puppies. All animals have been seen by a licensed veterinarian and given a comprehensive wellness exam, are current on all age appropriate vaccines including DHPP, Rabies (4 Months +), Heartworm test (6 months +), deworming, heartworm preventative as well as have been spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
Meet the Pets
We ask that adopters fill out an adoption application and once approved then we set up a home visit. Because of our adoption standards, we do not want to waste the public's time nor our time in doing home visits with potential matches until we have an approved adoption application on file. All animals available for adoption are listed on Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, our Website and Facebook.
