Little Ducky is an adorable little guy. This 5 year old poodle arrived at the shelter in Martinez a mess! He was completely matted and full of fleas and his teeth were a mess too. But all of that has been taken care of. Now he is neutered, up to date on all his shots microchipped, groomed and had his teeth cleaned. We also did his bloodwork, and he has a clean bill of health.
Ducky is social with other dogs and he just LOVES people. He'll greet you by standing up on his hind legs and waving his front paws at you. However, Ducky must go to an adult only home. Like many small dogs, Ducky tends to be protective of his people and also of his food and treats. So, he must go to an adult only home and preferably one that is dog experienced. We are happy to talk with any interested adopter in depth about Ducky. We'd love to find this darling little dog the right home
There are a couple of great things about small dogs of this age - first, what you see is what you get. He's done being a puppy and dealing with the doggie equivalent of the terrible twos....his sweet adult personality won't change and second, he's still got plenty of years left. Small dogs like Ducky often live to be 15 or 16. So if you're worried about adopting a middle age dog, stop worrying. You'll have a long life together!
Ducky does have some food guarding issues, so he is better off in a home with no children. He needs an experienced owner who is willing to work with him on these issues.
Finally, while we can't guarantee Ducky's breed, it is likely that he is a low allergen dog and could be a good choice for those with allergies.
