      Description

Brad Pitt is a gorgeous blue-nosed American Staffordshire Terrier (we think) with a gray and light tan brindle color. When we found Brad tied to a post on our front porch, his fur and skin are in a horrible state but we saw that stellar smile and knew we had to help him!Brad is a very sweet-natured boy but is very very strong and at times a little stubborn. He definitely needs someone who is firm but loving and thrives when he is being praised for being a good boy. He is working on self-control by staying in 'sit' when tempted by toys and such. He needs continued training with this because he is somewhat obsessed with balls, toys or anything he sees that looks like it would be fun to have and jumps to get it. Once he has it, he must be lured to 'drop it' with another prized item. For this reason and his powerful build, we suggest no toddlers, small children or other dogs in the home, although he is NOT in any way vicious towards them, he's just too strong.Brad has a soft side as well and really loves praise and affection from people. He gets depressed with constant corrections while training without praise and decides he's had enough and will do what he pleases. So, praise and play must be intertwined during training for him to excel. He is really looking for an owner who has experience with owning strong willed doggies like himself.Brad behaves himself while walking most times, and has no ill will towards anyone. He knows 'sit' and 'get it' while he is working on 'drop it' and 'stay'. He is looking for a future of hugs, kisses and an owner who can have, train and love him forever.Brad is classified as a bully breed and will need a protector who will not use him as a status symbol or in a way that will be harmful to him and his kind. We have had many people who are interested but could not provide a suitable home for him. If you think you are Brad's match, please fill out an application and speak with the shelter manager for more information.
